Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BUF)

The Buffalo City Metropolitan Municipality (BCMM), commonly referred to as Buffalo City, is one of the eight metropolitan municipalities in South Africa. It is located in the Eastern Cape Province and includes major urban centers such as East London, King William’s Town, Mdantsane, and Bhisho. Established in 2000, Buffalo City gained metropolitan status in 2011 due to its increasing economic and administrative significance. The municipality is characterized by a mix of urban, peri-urban, and rural areas, reflecting its diverse social, economic, and geographic landscape.
